Advocate, Satyam Singh Rajput in the light of public spirit has filed an intervention application against The Wire in the matter of Delhi Communal Riots before The Hon'ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Mr Rajput claimed in his application that *The Wire and it's one of the Journalists have blatantly misrepresented and misled the society by publishing news articles wherein the said news agency has stated, that the said order of this Hon’ble Court has been issued exclusively to provide security and relief to injured and victims of a particular religious community(Muslims). thereby depicting that the relief granted by this Hon’ble Court is qua religion of the victim, Therefore, casting aspersions and bias on the integrity of this Hon’ble Court. It has been reported that the Government had issued a notice on February 20th, 2020 to all satellite private channels to refrain from broadcasting any defamatory, deliberate, false and suggestive innuendos and half-truths. The petition points to the fact that false and misleading news also termed as ‘fake news’, are a threat not only to the peace and tranquillity of the country but also pose a threat to the enjoyment of Fundamental Rights of citizens as enshrined in the Constitution. The prayer sought includes allowing of the intervention application, passing an order to take down the disputed content- news report and to take appropriate action against the said agency.
