ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Nyayshastram, started as a student-run body, is a visionary platform designed to nurture and elevate legal research, writing, and presentation under the Chairmanship of Mr Ratan K. Singh, Senior Advocate & Arbitrator, Supreme Court of India along with the aid and advice of eminent Lawyers and Academicians across the nation. The initiative is aimed to foster legal research, writing and presentation by providing a platform to encourage e-learning through various competitions and events utilising the virtual platforms.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The competition simulates strategic negotiations in which law students, acting as advocates/counsels as well as clients shall negotiate a series of legal problems. The simulation shall consist of a common set of facts known by all the participants and confidential information known only to the participants representing a particular side. All of the simulations deal with the same general topic, but the negotiation situation varies with each round and level of the competition. The problems for the competition may range from Consumer Law, Insurance Law, Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Law, and Construction Law. Team Nyayshastram successfully conducted the first and the second editions of this event in the years 2020 and 2021 which witnessed the participation of teams from premier institutions located all across the country. The Finale and Valedictory Session were graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice A K Sikri, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Mr Ratan K Singh, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Dr Pinky Anand, Former ASG, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and Mr SB Upadhyay, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Nyayshastram invites UG students currently enrolled in their 3 years or 5 years bachelor’s degree in Law to participate in Nyayshastram’s 3rd Ratan K Singh National Negotiation Competition-2024 (Virtual).
ELIGIBILITY
Law students currently attending 3 years/5 years of law courses from a BCI-recognised law college/institution can participate. There is no cap on the number of teams participating from a single institution, however, there shall be an overall limit on the number of participating teams. Registration shall be provided on a first-come basis. Participants must submit a valid Student ID provided by their institutions or written communication of their bona fide affiliation with the institution/college.
TEAM COMPOSITION
Students have to form a team of two, comprising – one Advocate and one Client. REGISTRATION There shall be a registration fee of INR 2500 per team for taking part in the competition which is payable by transferring the amount to a bank account ONLY.
